Photoelectric Effect Applet (Non-PhET)
Photoelectric bench built for VCE Unit 4, as a self-hosted alternative to the PhET simulation. Sweep frequency across visible and UV, set beam power and anode voltage from retarding to accelerating, and switch the target metal between sodium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper and a mystery metal with a hidden work function. An animated tube shows photons striking the cathode and electrons crossing to the collector, with live readouts for wavelength, photon energy, photon rate, maximum kinetic energy, stopping voltage and current. Two graphs update alongside it: current against anode voltage, and maximum kinetic energy against frequency with gradient h and intercept minus the work function. A threshold marker tracks f0 on the frequency slider, and holding power constant while raising frequency shows the photon rate falling as one over f.
